The 2027 trophy, one Defender, one team of two, will navigate their way across northern Australia, from Cooktown to Darwin, traversing the country your Defender was built for. The route is sure to capture the heart of any team with an adventurous spirit and have you grinning ear to ear! All with the support of a dedicated crew, from expert Route Coordinators, Medical and Mechanical support, assisted base camps by our partners, the Cameleers, to Sweep Vehicles for added assurance. All wrapped up in a little friendly rivalry, scoring points from the minute you sign on to the finish line, who will take home the trophy?

A mission over the course of 20 days, each day's route will be challenging on both vehicle and team, the ultimate fun competition and adventure, traversing the best route our Route Coordinators could come up with, all while celebrating the best of the Defender, camaraderie, teamwork, and the trophy spirit, with your tribe! Special points of interest on each day's route, and a little competition, challenging both vehicle and team to get the green blood flowing - this is Defender life at its best!

There are only 20 team starting positions accepted for the event. Each team is made up of one vehicle and a team of two; both must be able to drive and navigate their way through each day’s stage. The event is only open to vehicles from the following Defender models after 1983: 110, 90, 127/130, County, Perentie, or Defender, and the team captain must be a current bona fide member of the Defenders of Australia Club. Though a competition for points, it is not a race; it is more of a test of team and machine with the ultimate goal of getting to the finish. Teams are rewarded for their Endurance, Problem-Solving, Adaptability, Driving Skills, Special Task Skills, and, of course, as per tradition, Team Spirit!
